For those people undertaking the Bachelor of Nursing or the Victorian Police Academy, we offer this Unit of Competence to meet entry requirements. When other participants only require the very basic level of first aid training, this unit applies to all people who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Amongst the topics covered are CPR, cardiac emergencies, legal aspects, respiratory emergencies such as asthma and anaphylaxis, shock, and wounds and bleeding.

This training covers both theory and practical aspects of basic emergency life support training. There is a short multiple choice quiz at the end of the training covering the course theory learnt that day. Students will also be assessed on practical skills as a requirement to pass the course.

We recommend enrolling into the full face-to-face course if this is the first time undertaking a Provide basic emergency life support course. If you undertake this course often, you may wish to enrol into our refresher course.

Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this course.

Minimum age: Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.

Requirements: Students are required to bring a form of photo ID on the day of their practical course. We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor.
